Flex 6400 Native Support under Linux (Kubuntu 20.04)

I've been following this project from Andrew KC2G - this is a good alternative to VirtualBox under linux. nCAT and nDAX give you native support for FlexRadio under Linux (Kubuntu 20.04) this evening. https://community.flexradio.com/discussion/7986862/announce-experimental-cat-dax-clients-for-linux You can download the nCAT and nDAX binaries to run locally depending on your linux configuration, your may may need to build your own versions from source using GO. Details for each are on the project github pages. https://github.com/kc2g-flex-tools/nCAT/releases https://github.com/kc2g-flex-tools/nDAX/releases If you download the binaries don't forget to chmod +x , then start each from a command line terminal (note the options and output): cwhite@superstudio:~/Downloads$ ./nCAT-linux-amd64 -headless 9:59PM INF Registering client 9:59PM INF Got client handle handle=0x6AFCEBCB 9:59PM INF Looking for slice slice_id=A 9:59PM INF Found slice slice_idx=1 ~~~~~ cwhite@superstudio:~/Do

Exploring Digital Modes with Linux

QTH - Home @ Dyer St. - Saw and add today for the new ICOM 705 rig.  QRP. Field Operations.   I hope to buy it this fall for field work (along with solar charging for LiFePO4  batteries).    But first i need to get digital modes up and running at home, and preferably natively on my Kubuntu 20.04 LTS linux box.  I installed Fldigil Flrig and Flarq from the  Software Center.  Hamlib was already installed, probably from dependencies.    I also took the opportunity to install GPredict for my future satellite tracking needs.   Special thanks to W1HKJ for supporting Linux!  Yaesu FT-991 looks pretty stable.   Flex-6400M is still in beta.   I'll try working with both. W1HKJ  http://www.w1hkj.com/ I also found some useful articles (albeit dated) on Reddit which led me to several key resources. http://www.linuxwolfpack.com/hamradio.php http://www.linuxwolfpack.com/ft991-fldigi-linux.php Todd Williams Just Plain Cool blog which has many helpful guides.   https://just.plain.cool/post/2017-01
