DVD and Video Support for Linux is quickly evolving. I wouldn't suggest anyone use the VCD/SVCD formats unless disk space is an issue, and disk space if finally getting reasonable. I just picked up a 200GB Seagate drive for $99, after the in-store special and mail-in-rebate.
