It’s Official - KI5JBP
Today I passed both the Technician and General amateur radio license exams. No Morse code testing is done but CW is still fun and encouraged to learn. Special thanks to the VEs at WB5QNG in Plano who were able to administer the tests remotely using Zoom+ExamTools.
I have a Baofeng F8HP Mobile radio - 8 Watts, dual band both 2M and 70CM bands - VHF (136-174MHz), UHF (400-520MHz). I’m also exploring software defined radios - there are some really good SDR dongles for monitoring local transmissions and and analyzing RF spectrum. CubicSDR and gqrx both work well with Ubuntu.
