WX7V - SKCC Brag Bonus Member - September 2023

I had a great month and a lot of fun as the Straight Key Century Club (SKCC) Brag Bonus Member.  I used my favorite cootie key - the Titan made by W1SFR. My score was aided by all the members working VC3K. I also completed my personal goal to work all states im September as the brag bonus member. Got the last state (North Dakota) with four hours to spare on Saturday! 

Also worked Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Hawaii, Alaska, Portugal, Germany, France, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Canada.  Made 341 QSOs in Brag Month with 325.   Final Brag Score: 278 (Highest since January 2023).

Hamclock 4.10 Up and Running WSL

I was able to get Hamclock up and running in Christmas Eve just in time to see the Santa tracker.   Very nice edition to the shack — its a fully configurable kiosk-style application that provides real time space weather, radio propagation models, operating events and other information particularly useful to the radio amateur. I’ve been running Hamclock in a full screen in a Chrome browser window (F11 toggles full screen).  Its  FB to access from my tablet in addition to the host PC on my local private network. With a few commands provided in the step by step guide by W4CAE you can run HAMCLOCK on Windows 10 / 11 using the Ubuntu  WSL. FTdx3000 - configuring external panadapter using SDRPlay RSP1A

 The panadapter on the FTdx3000 is fine but not great.   I'm using SDRuno with the SDRPlay RSP1A  which is a significant upgrade!   Cost was minimal since I already had a RSP1a stored in a  drawer waiting for a problem to solve.   Hardware configuration is straight forward.  On the back of the FTdx3000, connect the IF OUT (RCA connector) to antenna input on the RSP1a.  I needed a cable with RCA to SMA adapter.  Plug in USB connections from the RSP1a to the computer, and another from the FTdx3000 radio to your computer. Download and install OmniRig from dxatlas.  Omnirig provides CAT control for the Yaesu radio - allowing you to automatically tune into any frequency by clicking signal in panadapter waterfall.   Find the SiliconLabs Enhanced Comm port (use Ports in Device Manager)- you need to use the same com port and speed settings in the omnirig and sdruno configurations.
