WX7V @ US-6596 Richland Creek Wildlife Management Area

 For visited US-6596 to set up for this years Support Your Parks annual activators event.   The band conditions were great, and 20M especially active.  Was not hard to get my first 10 just by hunting other activators, without even calling P2P.  

32 contacts in all, all on CW, including on DX contact in Spain.  Also worked Junie N1DUC in SC, K7SHR in WY, KA0LDG and AE5X in ND and WA0WWW in MT.  Also nabbed the easier to work states including CO, FL, IA, NE, MA, ME, MI, MO, NC, NY, NJ , OH and UT.   

Equipment today was the Yaesu FT-991a, ATAS-120a on the truck.  I used FLrig for USB CAT control from my laptop running the newly rewritten HAMRS Pro logging application.   

Temp was mid-80s, but the cross breeze thru the open windows in the truck made the weather fairly pleasant!   73,   Chris de WX7V

Hamclock 4.10 Up and Running WSL

I was able to get Hamclock up and running in Christmas Eve just in time to see the Santa tracker.   Very nice edition to the shack — its a fully configurable kiosk-style application that provides real time space weather, radio propagation models, operating events and other information particularly useful to the radio amateur. I’ve been running Hamclock in a full screen in a Chrome browser window (F11 toggles full screen).  Its  FB to access from my tablet in addition to the host PC on my local private network. With a few commands provided in the step by step guide by W4CAE you can run HAMCLOCK on Windows 10 / 11 using the Ubuntu  WSL. FTdx3000 - configuring external panadapter using SDRPlay RSP1A

 The panadapter on the FTdx3000 is fine but not great.   I'm using SDRuno with the SDRPlay RSP1A  which is a significant upgrade!   Cost was minimal since I already had a RSP1a stored in a  drawer waiting for a problem to solve.   Hardware configuration is straight forward.  On the back of the FTdx3000, connect the IF OUT (RCA connector) to antenna input on the RSP1a.  I needed a cable with RCA to SMA adapter.  Plug in USB connections from the RSP1a to the computer, and another from the FTdx3000 radio to your computer. Download and install OmniRig from dxatlas.  Omnirig provides CAT control for the Yaesu radio - allowing you to automatically tune into any frequency by clicking signal in panadapter waterfall.   Find the SiliconLabs Enhanced Comm port (use Ports in Device Manager)- you need to use the same com port and speed settings in the omnirig and sdruno configurations.
